This is Cape Sounion, perched on top is a Temple of Poseidon.  This cliff is home of the following story: When Theseus went off to Crete to kill the Minotaur, his father, King Aegeus, told him that if he was successful, to return with his ship bearing white sails.  Though Theseus was triumphant, he forgot to change the sails.  King Aegeus stood on Cape Sounion, watching for his return.  When he saw the black sails in the distance, he assumed his son was dead, and jumped off the cliffs shown above to his death.  This is why it’s called the Aegean Sea.
(I must admit that when I first saw the cliffs, I wondered how he could jump into the water from it, as there was a large slope.  In my head I pictured King Aegeus jumping and then… thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, splash.)
